Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are commonly composed of silicone, acrylic, or other plastic materials.      Types of Intra Ocular lenses

     1. Monofocal IOL 

     When it comes to cataract surgery, the most frequently used lens is the monofocal IOL. This type of lens is designed to provide clear vision at a single distance, which can be set for up close, medium range, or distance vision. However, many individuals opt for distance vision as their primary focus. In order to compensate for near vision, they may need to wear eyeglasses for reading or other close work.

     2. Multifocal IOL

     Multifocal IOLs provide both distance and near focus at the same time. The lens has different zones set at different powers. These advanced lenses incorporate multiple focal points, enabling patients to see clearly at various distances without relying on glasses. Whether reading a book or driving, multifocal IOLs can provide a broader range of vision, enhancing the overall visual experience.

     3. Toric IOLs

     Monofocal and multifocal lenses solely address the spherical aspect of the eye, thereby leaving the cylinder power unresolved, necessitating the use of supplementary prescription glasses. In contrast, toric lenses are capable of correcting both the spherical and cylinder components of the eye. It is advisable to opt for toric lenses if you possess a substantial pre-existing cylinder or astigmatism in your eye. Individuals who suffer from astigmatism can benefit from a specialized intraocular lens (IOL) known as a toric lens. Astigmatism is a common refractive error that results from an irregular curvature in either the cornea or lens of the eye. The toric lens is specifically engineered to address this particular type of refractive error and provide patients with improved visual acuity and clarity.

     4. Monovison

     The correction of monovision involves the implantation of lenses with varying visual acuity in each eye by a qualified medical professional. Specifically, one eye is implanted with a lens for distant vision, while the other eye receives a lens for close-up vision.
